The Parenting Research Centre Inc is a national, independent, not-for-profit research and development organisation established to help parents raise happy healthy children. The Parenting Research Centre (PRC) engaged Surface Media to design and build the Parenting After Bushfire website to promote and encourage online registration for their parenting program for mothers, fathers and carers of children and teenagers affected by the 2009 Victorian bushfires.
Given the sensitive nature of the program, it was essential that the design of the website communicated the right feeling. We met with the key project team members from PRC at each stage of the project to ensure we had a complete understanding of the users’ needs and the project objectives throughout the entire process.
We took the identity PRC had in mind and translated this into a visual design that not only communicated the right look and feel but also managed to communicate key calls to action and guide users through the website in a thoughtful and logical way.
We developed a custom program finder for the website to allow users to find and register for a program nearest them by using a postcode search. The website also allows PRC to manage information about users who have registered for the program at each location.
