Matt has over 12 years of experience in interaction design and digital media. As Principal and Creative Director of Surface Media, Matt oversees the strategic, visual design and creative development of all projects. Matt’s rich professional experience extends across government, private and not for profit sectors where his enthusiasm for and grasp of web 2.0 concepts and meticulous eye for detail has added enormous value.
Prior to starting Surface Media, Matt was the Senior New Media Designer with the highly regarded Swish Group in Melbourne. While at Swish Matt designed website and eLearning interfaces for brands such as NAB, Laminex, BHP, NEC and Museum Victoria.
Matt has a Bachelor of Design from the University of Melbourne, and post-graduate qualifications in Interactive Media from the Victorian University of Technology. From time to time Matt lectures in Typography for Screen and Interface Design at Swinburne’s National School of Design.
Matt has seven years of professional graphic design and interactive design experience. At Surface Media he is responsible for the visual design and development of digital media projects and also provides digital strategy advice to clients.
Matt has specific expertise in user experience, user interface design, HTML / CSS and flash-based design and development.
Prior to joining Surface Media, Matt held an Interactive Designer role with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Matt holds a Bachelor Degree in Design Computing from the University of Sydney.
After several years spent navigating through the vast marketing landscape, Leah eventually crossed paths with the world of digital media and from that moment she knew they would have a long and happy future together. She joined the Surface Media team in November 2009 and never looked back.
Leah’s role at Surface Media includes the coordination and project management of digital projects and advising on information architecture, interaction design, user experience and digital strategy including social media.
Leah has previous experience in the professional services industry and community sector having previously worked in the in-house marketing departments of a large trans-Tasman law firm and a national not-for-profit organisation.
Leah has a Bachelor of Commerce (University of Western Australia, 2006) and a Certificate IV in Graphic Design (Grenadi School of Design, 2010).
Ben is a fresh graduate coming straight out of university just last year. Ben has a passion for web standards and accessibility as well has HTML5 and CSS3. Ben is also an avid Jquery fan.
Ben’s role at Surface Media as a front-end developer is to make designs work in web browsers using HTML / CSS and Javascript.
Before Surface Media, Ben freelanced creating websites and doing graphic design work.
Ben has a Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia and an Advanced Diploma in Interactive Media both from Victoria University. Ben is also a member of the Web Standards Group in Melbourne.
